There’s a book I want to read this year.
I don’t yet know what that book is.
But it’s amazing and beautiful and sweeps me off my feet.
This is my bookish wish for 2021:
That I find the absolute most perfect book for me. That I read a book that takes my breath away. That I read a book I just can’t put down at all. That I read a book that takes me into it’s world, body and soul. That I read a book with characters I fall head over heels in love with. That I read a book with a story that leaves me breathless. That I read a book where the moments in between are made of spun glass and gold. That I read a book that flows from the first word to the very last. That I read a book that lives and breathes.
Perhaps a bit of a daunting challenge, and maybe a bit of a dare to every book and author out there. But I still have my fingers crossed for that one perfect book. The book that I more than just loved and was blown away by.
I want a book that reads like my heart, whatever my heart is.
Maybe it’s a little crazy. But I like crazy. I always hope that the book I pick up, every time it’s time to start a new story, will be the one that just completely wins over my reading heart. There’s a thread in me that fears I’ll be put off of reading if I find that one perfect book, but, the question is, if I found one, couldn’t there be another one? And wouldn’t that just be the most beautiful thing in the world? To be surrounded by all the books that swept me off my feet?
There’s a book I’m hoping to find this year.
I’m hoping to find it.

When I first saw your blog title, I thought, “Oh, no. Here’s going to be another blogger with another list of 100 books and here I am, assuming I might get through *one* by next December…”

Ha! It’ll be December before I even have a finished list of 100 books. That’s the one good thing of gently forcing my daughter to let me read to her when I put her down for naps and bedtime; I get so much reading done.

You read your books at her naptime? Brilliant!

It’s my mom’s fault. She read to me every night. I thought why not do bedtime and naptime? I’ll be sad when she no longer takes naps.

I want to actually finish a book, instead of losing focus a quarter of the way through. I’ve set my sights on The Adventures of King Midas, by Lynne Reid Banks. It’s 150 pages, so I’ve got a decent shot. Maybe. Lol.

I hope it’s a good one! 150 pages sounds very doable. But I get the losing focus. There are always so many other things to do and stories just don’t always click. Good luck!

My bookish wish for this year is that every book I read gives me room to breath when everything gets to be too loud, too hectic, too much. This year I need books to be comfort food and a warm blanket that asks nothing of me except to enjoy. Tall order, huh?

That’s an amazing wish! Haha, probably a tall order, but it’s a good one to demand of a book that’s supposed to provide enjoyment. I think we all could use a ton of comfort reads. If you haven’t already read it, I’ve heard The House in the Cerulean Sea is like a big hug.

I go through about a book every couple of days. Most are meh but once in a while I hit a jackpot and it stands out. They’re books I’ll reread and enjoy doing so.

I agree, most books are kind of meh. I love those jackpot books, though, no matter how hard they are to find.

Oh Kat! How beautiful and strange. Lately I’ve had this EXACT craving. To find a fiction book to read that takes me so deep into myself that I feel like it IS my soul. I can’t believe you’ve been feeling the very same thing. 🥰
Well. I sure hope you find your beautiful book, lovely Kat. I sure hope you do. ☺️🥰

It’s such an incredible and beautiful craving! With so many books floating out there, it seems almost impossible to find that one that speaks to your soul, but it must be out there. It just has to. I hope you find yours, that beautiful book that’s as beautiful as you.
I’m a little hesitant to say it, but I think I might just have found mine, and it’s just been blooming and blooming in my chest every day. Such a wonderful feeling!
