Fate Accompli by Keith R. Fentonmiller. I just started this last night and am finding it oddly amusing. It’s set way in the past, something of a cross of Greek mythology and a family in Italy bearing an interesting curse. Reading it also reminds me of reading a classic, but I feel like some of the words and phrases are, perhaps, a little too modern for the 16th century. I really have no idea how the Greek mythology and the Italian family will collide, but I hope it’ll be interesting.
Son of the Storm by Suyi Davies Okungbowa. I’m close to finishing this one. It’s actually an interesting fantasy centered around three people trying to create their own futures either by force or by being who they are. It’s just hard to find time during the day to read it because of demanding children who believe in talking one’s ears off.

Black Water Sister by Zen Cho. This was a fascinating read for me in so many ways. A Malaysian-inspired fantasy, it also features a Chinese main character and her family, so, being Chinese, it felt familiar and foreign at the same time. Kind of a weird experience, but I really liked it. It also has ghosts, gods, gangs, powerful businessmen, and estranged family members.

Headlines & Hydras by Rebecca Chastain! Technically, I can’t start on this one until I receive it on May 10th, but I know I’ll feel no remorse at dropping whatever I happen to be reading at the time to pick this one up. It’s one of my anticipated reads (one of the very few on my list) this year. I’ve been dying to find out what happens next! I love this series so much. It has a junior journalist hunting down stories, so there’s always a bit of a mystery. It’s also fantasy and has a really lovely light romance and the most darling creature companion ever. There isn’t anything I don’t like about Chastain’s Terra Haven Chronicles, so I’m really excited to read this as soon as I get it!

It feels like there’s an odd language barrier, but the characters and story work so well together that it’s a ton of fun to read. I hope you enjoy it!
