WWW Wednesday – May 19, 2021

WWW Wednesday is a bookish meme run by Sam@Taking on a World of Words.

It asks:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

The Last Imperator by M. L. Tishner. Technically, as of the time this posts, I haven’t started yet, but I’ll definitely be reading it today. It comes out next week and I have my review scheduled to coincide, so I need to get reading. This is the second in the Rebirth Saga and I had the pleasure of reviewing and loving the first book, The God Queen, in 2019. I’ve been very eagerly awaiting this one!

What did you recently finish reading?

Tales of the Clans: Ineluctable by Elsy DevaineTales of the Clans: Ineluctable by Elsy Devaine. I loved that this is a standalone as well as what looks like the first book in a series. But it did feel rushed at times, so the characters and world weren’t as fleshed out as I would have liked. It has a ton of action, interesting magic, changing sides, and the truth of the past.

Headlines & Hydras by Rebecca ChastainHeadlines & Hydras by Rebecca Chastain. This is the second book in the Terra Haven Chronicles and I loved it as much as I loved the first book, Leads & Lynxes. In a prior WWW post, I promised I would be reading this as soon as I received it, and I did! I couldn’t wait to return to the world and characters, and my review posted earlier this morning. It has magic, mystery, and romance, and virtually everything I look for in books in fantasy, mystery, and women’s fiction/romance.

Talk Bookish to Me by Kate Bromley. This was a cute romance, and one of the few to really hold my attention past the halfway point. The romance is intense, but the main characters are so much fun and really have a ton of chemistry, so it was easy to get caught up in them. The end did feel a little meandering, but I still enjoyed this romance, even if I was left hunting for any book references.

What do you think you’ll read next?

The Jasmine Throne by Tasha SuriThe Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri. This comes out really soon. I have a physical ARC and, since it seems to take me forever to read physical books these days (long story), I really need to get started on this one.

For the Wolf by Hannah Whitten. This one comes out before The Jasmine Throne, but it’s an e-ARC. Still, even though it’s faster for me to read on my Kindle, I need to get started on it.
