Top 5 Saturday: Blood on the Cover

top 5 blood on the cover

Top 5 Saturday is run by Amanda @ Devouring Books. Every week showcases 5 books that share a common theme. This week’s theme is Blood on the Cover.

So…I don’t like blood. I have a fear of hypodermic needles and getting blood drawn makes me nauseous and lightheaded, so now the sight of blood makes me feel unsettled. For this week’s theme, I really, really, really had to dig deep, and somehow managed to come up with exactly 5 books with blood on the cover. If there are more, it must have been added after I acquired the book so it would be a different cover. Blood is so not my thing.

Book Review: Cuteness Overlord by Mike Aaron

This was both funny and annoying and I hated the main character, but it was an amusing read about murderous cute animals far in the future. Do notice the little bit of blood dripping from the cat’s mouth and some bits on it’s fur.

Bloodstained Bliss by Elle Limpkin

Book Review of BloodStained Bliss by Elle Limpkin - science fiction and mystery

Take note of the delightful blob of blood on the title. The cover has since changed. And I seriously just noticed the half face on this cover.

Gates' Bookstore by Jamila A. Stone

This book was okay, but I think it would make for an interesting first half of a two-part TV series premier. Be warned it does come with a pretty major cliffhanger. I wasn’t a big fan, so I have no idea if the second book has come out. But please notice the blood on her shirt. How she got so bloody, I have no idea…

Death on Demand by Carolyn G. Hart

This is the first in the Death on Demand series about a married couple where she runs a mystery bookstore. I stopped reading this many years ago. But there is a nice pool of blood on the book.

Honeymoon with Murder by Carolyn G. Hart

This is the fourth book in the Death on Demand series. It might be easy to miss, but there’s definitely some blood around the sword piercing the pillow. Like I said, I really had to dig.
