The Last Book I…Book Tag

A huge thank you to Leslie from Books Are The New Black for tagging me! I adore Leslie’s blog; it’s so much fun to read and her reviews are always so honest. She’s also doing a really fun monthly Birthstone Book Covers posts and the covers she finds to match each birthstone are so pretty. Anyways, be sure to check out her blog!

According to Leslie, who got it from dinipandareads, this one is from Instagram and no one is sure of who originated it.

The Last Book I Bought

Well, the last book I bought was actually a Bluey book for my daughter. She’s since drawn all over the pages so it’s a little harder to read now.

The Last Book I Borrowed

The last book I borrowed was for my son. He’s really into humorous books, especially if they have to do with potty humor or space (well, he is only 7, almost 8), so the last book I borrowed for him was Space Taxi: Archie Takes Flight by Wendy Mass and Michael Brawer. He’s finishing another book right now, but should be starting on it next week, and I’m hoping he’ll enjoy it as much as he’s enjoyed the last two he’s read so far this summer. He’s really not a big reader, so it’s hard to find good books for him, especially since his reading level is higher than his grade level.

The Last Book I Was Gifted

The God of Lost Words by A.J. Hackwith. My husband decided to get this one for me right away when we discovered my review for the second book in the series (this one is the third) was quoted in the Praise section. The people around me know I’m really particular about what I read, so no one bothers gifting me any.

The Last Book I Gave to Someone Else

Um, I don’t seem to know very many readers in my life, now that my mom has taken up crochet and one of my best friends lives overseas. I don’t think I’ve actually given anyone a book since I was 10? But, in high school, I did lend I am Charlotte Simmons by Tom Wolfe to one of my friends. I also know I’ve given my husband a few books in the past decade, but I couldn’t say which was the last one since it’s been a while.

The Last Book I Started

Upgrade by Blake Crouch. I’ve read a lot of good reviews for his previous novels, so, when I saw this one on NetGalley, I decided to request it. I’m less than a quarter in, but I’m liking how easy it is to read since all the science-y stuff in books is usually hard for me to figure out.

The Last Book I Finished

Last Call at the Nightingale by Katharine Schellman. This was an interesting, mostly fast-paced Jazz Age mystery novel. It’s about a young woman who works as a dressmaker who frequents a speakeasy where she can flirt and dance with men and women. One night, she stumbles on a dead body and everyone starts to think she knows more than she actually does.

The Last Book I Rated 5 Stars

An Island Summer by Jenny Hale. It’s so rare for me to find an author where I’ll read all of their books, but Hale has become one of them. Her books are so sweet and heartwarming and just make me feel so good while reading them.

The Last Book I DNF’d

I don’t DNF books, though I, personally, make a distinction between DNF and abandoned, in which DNF just means I never got around to finishing it. With that, I think the last one I just didn’t finish was The Origin of Species, which I didn’t finish because I kept losing it. Otherwise, in the sense everyone else uses DNF, I don’t DNF. As a writer, I would hope that readers would do me the kindness of finishing my stories, so I expect myself to do the same. Besides, there are so many books lately where the first half just dragged or was utterly boring or was so confusing I didn’t know my feet from my head, but, by the second half, really came together for something at least interesting.

The Last Book I Listened To

I don’t listen to books. I daydream too much to be able to focus on listening to a book. But my husband and I did listen to The Eye of the World back in 2011 when we were moving across the country. I don’t think I actually paid much attention to it since I’d already read it.

  1. So glad you did this!! Thanks for the shout out too, so sweet! ❤ I have been seeing so many people talk about that Blake Crouch book right now! I haven't read anything by him. I'm glad it's an easy read with all the science!

    1. Thanks for the tag! It was a ton of fun to do. I hadn’t read Blake Crouch’s books, either, but they seem like a great alternative to watching an action thriller movie. Very fast and action packed read!
