Hi, and welcome back to the Cafe!
Let’s Catch Up a Bit
Well, one week off from blogging was, honestly, not long enough. Mostly because I spent almost the entire time dealing with side effects from my COVID booster. On the plus side, the kids got to spend a lot more time playing with their dad, but I kept falling asleep and was, weirdly, klutzier than usual thanks to joints feeling a little too loose and muscles feeling a little too stiff. I’m sure my cat is also exceptionally stressed out with everyone home for 9 days, but I’ll make it up to her.
I did get a decent amount of reading done despite the tendency to just fall asleep, but am now embarrassingly behind on review writing. The next few days will be fun. I’ve also not started on putting December’s Curated Bookshelf together beyond picking out the titles. A part of me feels terrible about it all, but it was nice to rest.
Thanksgiving was a nice, quiet affair. It’s been quite a while since a holiday has felt relaxed to me. I love my entire family, but, as an introvert, all the noise puts me on edge after a while. Afterwards, we might have lost our minds and went out on the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving, but it was worth it to not eat turkey for one meal and to head to our closest bookstore. It was quite fun to help my husband find some books, and reading every book review that all the bloggers I follow post was quite helpful as we have somewhat different tastes. So a big thank you to all the reviewers out there!
Well, I guess now it’s off to…write some posts. And catch up on reviews. Let’s not think about how far behind I am.
What’s Up Next
More of the same from before my break, I presume. It’s only 3 weeks until my next long break (to coincide with my children’s 3 week winter break), so I don’t know how much I’ll actually accomplish. I do know my annual favorite book in SFF, Women’s Fiction/Romance, and Mystery/Thriller posts will be coming up as well as my bookish wish revisited post. But I expect a lot of December will be catching up on reviews. Better start writing those…
