Welcome to this month’s Curated Bookshelf! To me, March has always meant the beginning of spring, and those weeks just before Spring Break and the need to have activities and outings planned so my kids don’t drive me up the wall. But it’s also Women’s History Month and, since the birthstones for March, apparently,symbolize courage, I thought it would be fun to highlight books with Courageous Women.
I am not the most adventurous or courageous person. I’ll leave that to the characters I read about. I love going on adventures, but I’m pretty sure I’d wind up dead or hiding in a corner if I ever embarked on one. Well, more likely forced into one as a sidekick or traveling companion.
So I admire the women I read about, the women who take their lives into their own hands and make something of themselves and their world. I admire the women who have been beaten down and still manage to rise and make themselves stronger. I admire the women who struggle and fight for the lives they want and deserve. I admire the women who live without fear, who willingly throw themselves into the fire. I admire the women who take that jump into adventure, who brave the things I would never dare, whose voices are strong and powerful and whose deeds speak volumes.
This month, I’ll be highlighting 14 books that have either some of my favorite courageous women or women I admire for what they went through and coming through it all better and stronger.
Throughout this month, I’ll be giving each book its own Highlight post. I’ll discuss why I chose that particular book as well as put a spotlight on it, other reviews, and multiple purchase links. As I mentioned when I first introduced The Curated Bookshelf, I won’t earn a cent if you choose to use one of the links to purchase a book (I am not affiliated with any purchase sites), but the author/publisher will. Choose wisely?
I’m excited to share the 14 books I’ve chosen, and they’ll remain on the shelf until March 31st. On April 1st, there will be a new set of books and a new theme.
