So, here I am, a few weeks into the year and a few weeks into my goal of reading 52 books. My plan as been going mostly well so far. I read when the kids nap. I read when I’m up in the middle of the night with my infant. But I also pick child-friendly books so I can also read them to my toddler at bedtime. Finding those pockets of time to read have really helped.
As mentioned before, I selected Aaron Frale’s Time Burrito as my first book of the year. This review is forthcoming next month. It wasn’t a long book, so I finished in less than a week, which allowed me to move on quickly to book 2.
The second book I picked was Rose-Marie Lyttle’s The Dragon’s Cave. I found this one through Kindle Scout and, as I nominated it and it was selected for publication, I got this one for free. It’s a middle-grade book, so it was perfect to read to my toddler. This one also didn’t take long to read, so I went looking for a somewhat longer 3rd book.
Book 3 was The Danish Way of Parenting by Jessica Joelle Akexander and Iben Sandahl. I spent a semester abroad in Denmark and really fell in love with the country. While it’s too cold and dark in the winters for this Southern Californian, I try to bring Denmark to my family as much as I can.Preheat
Book 4 is a Kindle Scout winner called Deadly Choices by D. L. Barnhart. I should be done with this one and onto book 5, but I’m having a hard time wading through this one. 52 books this year? I feel doomed already…
