Getting To Know You: Who’s Ready For a Vacation?

In what I would like to call Getting to Know You, I would like to try to get to know my wonderful and lovely readers.

I know summer is not quite on us, but, here in Southern California, it’s been feeling like it lately. Oh, sure, we had a brief rainy spell of a grand two days. But now it’s in the 80s and even reached the 90s over the weekend.

Add in my baby turning 1 recently, doing her first birthday party, and discovering allergies are really hitting us hard right now (which means we’re stuck inside because even baths don’t fully help. What is wrong with us?!), well, I’m ready for a vacation.

Which, unfortunately, comes with the question of where. Where would I go? If I could go anywhere, where would I go?

Well, I have a nice long list of all the places I want to go, but do I really want to go there for my dream vacation?

Really, if I could go anywhere, where would I go?

I’ve loved Denmark and Scotland, Austria and Switzerland. I long to go somewhere tropical like one of the Caribbean islands or Hawaii. I want to go somewhere haunted in Savannah, Georgia. I want to try beignets in New Orleans. I want to go to Ireland and walk where ancient harpists once walked. I want to see the ruins of Greece and Rome. I want to visit the pyramids and however many 7 Wonders of the World still stand.

But my dream is New Zealand. And not because so many movies have been filmed there (I honestly haven’t watched a whole movie since my son was born almost 4 years ago and I really don’t care because I have never been a movie person). But because it’s beautiful. I imagine myself standing where I can hear the waves and stare out at the beautiful  landscape spread before me. The mountains and hills, the flowers and the grass, the rivers and the lakes. A place where I can enjoy the simple beauty of nature. I love nature and finding the quiet simplicity in it makes me feel quite at peace with myself.

Though maybe it’ll be more enjoyable from behind a window. Allergies, you know.

Are you ready for a vacation? Where would you go? What’s your dream vacation?

With so many fascinating places, it’s certainly hard to choose! Thailand sounds wonderful, though. I’ve heard it’s beautiful there.

Congrats on your baby girl turning 1! I live here in Georgia where the weather finally decided it could be Spring. I get to take a trip up to Long Island to visit family soon, and I always love that trip, and of course take time to visit NYC.
But my dream vacation is Ireland or Greece. Funnily enough, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants made me want to visit Greece and P.S. I love you is why Ireland is my dream. The movies make those destinations look like heaven. Let us know where you decide/get to go!

I have family in NY, too! Though it’s been awhile since we’ve been able to visit. I’d love to take my kids to NYC one day and going to a Broadway show would be a dream come true.
I’ve never seen P.S. I Love You, but Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants really did a great job of making Greece appealing. I hope you get to go one day!

Awww your little one turned 1. Such an exciting and fun time. Seems like you’ve done your fair share of traveling. I haven’t been on a vacation since November of 2016. It’s long overdue! We are planning to go to Myrtle beach in June. I really want to try to convince my husband to go somewhere else. Maybe Destin, FL. Somewhere on the coast. He is worried about the travel with our daughters. We’ll see!

Traveling with kids can be challenging, but I remember many family trips growing up and they are some of my most treasured memories. Besides, everyone could use a vacation and a beach in June sounds wonderful. I hope you get to go!

Thailand! I love traveling – studied abroad in China and France twice. Although I love the vibe and feeling of such historical places…. I just want a paradise and to see elephants haha. I want to relax.

Thailand sounds wonderful! And elephants are such fascinating creatures! China and France are great places and, wow, kind of jealous you got to travel there so much, but a paradise for a vacation is a really good idea!
