• The Dark Saga: Except 1: The Archons

As promised, here is an excerpt about the Archons and how they interact with each other. The Celestial Halls 248 DC Six human-like figures wrapped in silver robes sat facing each other, three on each side, from opposite sides of a rectangular chamber lit only by torches. They sat on marble thrones with a number ranging from two to seven engraved over their heads on the back. The seventh figure sat at the front of the hall, facing the other six. Tension sizzled between the seven archons, the guardians and acting gods of the world they had created. Silence permeated the room as the Time Archon, the figure sitting with…

  • The Dark Saga: The Archons

The world was created by the Archons. As the creators, they serve as the world’s gods. Originally, there were three Archons: Time, Gray, and Spirit. As their world grew, they realized they needed others by their side to help keep the world developing and in balance. They created the Nature and Harmony Archons to preserve the world and allow peace to flourish. However, as they created the races, conflict arose. As a result, the original three Archons created the Dark and White Archons to help provide balance in a rapidly expanding world. Collectively, the seven Archons are the guardians of the world and each is worshipped by the various races.…

  • The Dark Saga: The Lifestream

The Lifestream is the world’s life force. It provides life to all living things as well as the magic that each creature possesses. It winds its way around the world as the only pure thing in existence, containing the life energies of all living things. It relies on all living things just as all life depends on it. It is weaker in areas that are mostly devoid of any life, but will grow stronger if living things are present. It is protected from contamination and devastation by the seven Life Force Crystals and the Rose Crystal. These Crystals are scattered around the world and are kept hidden from one another…

  • Thursday? Already?

So, it seems I’m quickly losing track of the days. Either that or my mind. I’m sure I had grand plans for today, possibly something about the islands in my Dark Saga. But, as you can tell, that’s not going to happen. It’s still early here on the east coast, but between a full day of classes, a boring meeting, a physiology quiz, and some things I have to help my husband out with tonight, I’m just not going to get a chance to write about those islands. Thursdays really have to stop sneaking up on me. On the bright side, I’m off on Spring break next week, with a…

  • Ettara and the Kalladis Archipelago

One of the five continents, Ettara effectively shut its borders to the world when the druids overthrew the faerae. Since no one has entered or emerged from this continent in over two decades, it has largely become a place of myth. There are many written records, telling of great cities and powerful creatures in a land filled to the brim with magic, but the records were created so long ago that no one believes them anymore. However, in the ensuing centuries, the Ettarans have only grown in power. As a testament to the great power and the importance of magic, the capital of Skyna is home to the powerful Magician’s…

  • The Dark Saga places: Kastana and the Frozen Lands

As of right now, I’m thrilled to have power, but as this storm is due to stick around until Friday morning, I still have to keep my fingers crossed and am writing this as fast as I can. I suppose in honor of this messy east coast weather I’ll be writing about two very cold continents. Kastana is a peanut shaped continent north of Dyjakt. To the west is the Zamra Archipelago and Mystic Island, the fabled burial ground of now long forgotten faerae Queens. The upper half of Kastana is largely unexplored due to the severe cold and constant sheet of ice and snow. Few wander to the northern…

  • The Dark Saga places: Hytara

One of the continents of the world, it lies just south of Dyjakt across the Tsala Sea. Most of it is taken up by the Hytara Desert. Not much is known of the desert or the rest of the continent since the desert is nearly impossible to cross and the druids restricted sea travel after they took over in Meridian. There are stories of magnificent cities and exotic races, but these have become little more than myth. In actuality, outside of the desert, Hytara is a wasteland. Formerly the main home of the sliders, it was abandoned when they joined the druids. It had been magnificent at one time. Hytara…

  • The Dark Saga places: Dyjakt

Dyjakt is one of the world’s five continents and is where most of the story takes place. As the most populous continent in the known world, it also serves as the world’s seat of power from which the druids, formerly the faerae, rule. It is also the home of the majority of the human race, though they confine themselves to the northeastern corner as they are the only race incapable of using magic. Dyjakt is surrounded by 5 seas: the Morlay Ocean to the north, Sea of Mystica and the Eswyn Ocean to the west, the Tsala Sea to the South, and the Cabree Sea to the east. Some notable…
