WWW Wednesday is a bookish meme run by Sam@Taking on a World of Words.

It asks:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

For the Wolf by Hannah Whitten. A Little Red Riding Hood retelling, I can definitely see the little red riding hood and the wolf, but nothing else is familiar. Instead, Whitten has introduced something of a living, terrifying woods and Red might have enough magic to help it do its job. I’m almost two-thirds through and have noticed more similarities to Disney’s Beauty and the Beast than Little Red Riding Hood. I keep wondering where the grandmother is.

The Jasmine Throne by Tasha SuriThe Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri. I loved Realm of Ash, but haven’t yet read Empire of Sand. Still, I love her writing and the Indian-inspired fantasy. I haven’t read much yet, but, so far, I’m enjoying it.

What did you recently finish reading?

The Last Imperator by M. L. TishnerThe Last Imperator by M. L. Tishner. This is the second book in the science fiction/fantasy Rebirth Saga. It reminded me a lot of Star Wars and anime (note: I am not at all versed in anime), but I liked that the main characters were reincarnated gods with some really interesting powers. There’s a ton of manipulation going on, making for a very fascinating read.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Find by Steve Dunn Hanson. This is the first book in The Course of Fate trilogy and combines archaeology, anthropology, mystery, and puzzles. I’m hoping it makes me think, and I do enjoy books with puzzles, so I think I’ll be starting on this once I finish For the Wolf.

    1. Haha, I wonder that, too! It’s a fun blend, though, and surprisingly easy to read even if I couldn’t figure out which tale she was trying to retell.
